WATERMAN "PORTO" 2-HP 1913-1914 |
|
Waterman invented the outboard motor in 1906* and produced 25 motors that year. (*Evinrude sold his 1st motor in 1910, a full 4 years after Waterman, yet he gets credit for inventing the outboard motor.) Waterman's outboard motors were air-cooled (bad idea!) and only one survives today. The next year 1907, Waterman produced about 100 motors, all WATER COOLED. In 1908 they made 300 motors and continued at about that rate until 1916 when the company was sold to Arrow who continued until about 1919. This motor is truly a beauty
