Vibram Gumlite® rubber sole serves equally well in the city or the field. Welt construction allows us to re-sole these boots if the soles wear out. 2 mid-soles (one rubber, one leather) provide lateral (side-to-side) support and stability. Tempered steel shank supports your arch, to minimize fatigue. Removable cork foot bed molds itself to the contours of your feet, and dissipates perspiration. Reinforced backstay stabilizes your heel. No heel counter--the 903 does not have a true heel counter that surrounds your heel like our boots do, but instead a narrow tab to give shape to the shoe heel). Leather tongue but no Tin Cloth gussets, to reduce bulk. Embossed logos "C.C. FILSON CO, SEATTLE, SINCE 1897" on tongue, "FILSON" on right ankle.
